Is this only for the first few weeks postpartum?
No. The framework works from week one through about 18 months. The phases (heal, feel, tend, return) reflect different stages of recovery. A mother at 6 months postpartum will find the Tend and Return phases especially useful. A mother at week one needs the Heal phase and the Two Week Pause.
Does this work for c section recovery?
Yes. The frameworks are birth agnostic. Specific c section recovery is acknowledged throughout and the book never pretends recovery is shorter or easier for any birth type.
Is this a substitute for medical or mental health care?
No. This is a support tool, not clinical care. The safety reference page is clear about when to call your GP, health visitor, or emergency services. The book directs you to professionals; it does not replace them.
